The Zoya Factor- All’s fair in love and Criket, this is book is written by Anuja Chauhan. The author is from Delhi and an advertising agencies creative head. When I bought this book, I thought this was a real story of an author but later I came to know that this is fiction. The writer put some personal experience in it as well.
The book started of very well. The story line is outrageous, but what really makes this a good one time read is that quite often one can actually relate to the language they speak, the scenarios in a working environment and the absolute madness that exists during an ongoing World Cup Tournament. This book help to understand the kind of pressure each player faced during the matches.
This is a story about a mid-level advertising executive, who get fascinated by seeing Shah Rukh Khan and irritated when came to know that she has to leave the assignment and move on to the Indian cricket team’s project. The story revolved around the luck factor of girl’s presence and the win of Indian Cricket team, the clashes between the skipper and the girl and ofcourse, there is the budding romance between the skipper and girl which goes on and off………on and off…..
The book is good one time read. I enjoyed reading each moment of it. The narration of Nikhil Khoda’s character is fabulous. The other characters also extremely well etched. The flow of the language and use of Hinglish (Hindi + English) words are perfect. The idea of putting newspaper’s cutting is good but reading that whole thing is very boring. Use of page 3 columns and bollywood to narrate the story is ultimate. The writer uses this platform to present the cricket, bollywood and ad world.
